Rx for this?

Post by Stew »

Hello knowledgeable chaps!

Question time again!
A) Is it possible to build a working 27Mhz receiver for the little fellow photographed below?
B) Does anyone have dimensions for the Rx case etc? Or even a good photo of what it would have looked like?
C) Do the receivers ever come up for sale, or are they rare as unicorn poo?

Many thanks

Stew.

They should work with any superregen Rx as
the supplied matching Rx was.

Wouldn't fancy flying any plane using it though.

Is it a 27MHz example?

A bit of history on the Pathfinder.

A company on the same trading estate where the Pathfinder was manufactured produced Sanitary towels. The defective ones were used as packing in the box your set came in. 🤪

Hi Shaun. yup it's 27Mhz (label says 27Mc/s).

It's just for my little collection, however I'd like to have a receiver for it and see it operate, even if only on the ground.

You could say it's a 'period piece'

Have you any superregen Rx's to test it with?

'Fraid not Shaun, just been looking on Ebay, and old articles looking for likely candidates to build. Also reading up about such things in the 'MAP Technical Publication - Single Chanel Radio Control'

I was only born in '73, so such things are a mystery, I missed the party so to speak, but find them utterly fascinating.
I would love to have it up and working again. See it operate a receiver and an escapement.

Here’s my modern version, complete with matching RX and USB stick!! My take on them of course.

Someone on here will have a spare Rx I'm sure.

As you are a young un Stew, just in case you didn't know, a Superregen Rx's works over a broad frequency range as opposed to a specific spot frequency of the Superhet versions. Concequently only one plane at a time could fly.

Ah yes, just reading about that. And how the receivers could act as a sort of transmitter for other receivers in range. It's very interesting. Imagine waiting for a turn to fly! Crikey.

I have the details for the RM Singlet, this should be OK? I'd have to build the thing but should be do-able?
