with that visible stick gimbal & gold case, I vote for the Min-X

Same here...I have a Min-X 1200S in beautiful condition I'd love to do, and if you run yours to 2.4 I could shamelessly copy your efforts

OK, so the Min-X wins by popular demand. Now I need your guys help:
You may have noticed the stick assembly is built onto the circuit board, with a single spring anchored to the board for the joystick. Thus the board or at least part of it has to stay. Any input of suggestions are appreciated.

I hear that Tobe, the Bonner stick is a real bear due to the heavy springs used.
The spring is a "C" shaped affair, and it would be pretty easy to bend lighter ones from smaller diameter music wire. I have contemplated doing this but have not found the time. The Min-X by contrast has pretty good feel to the joystick.

Jay,

You've probably already thought of this, apologies if so.

Why not leave the original pcb in place to support the gimbal, "hot wire" the pots to the new encoder and then hide the new encoder board & RF board behind it, or put all the new bits inside a dummy battery box. Various templates are available on the forum. I've previously fitted the encoder board & a 2-cell 1850 Li-ion pack inside a dummy 9v case on my series 72 Kraft 2 channel Tx. I'm sure that there would be enough room in the Min-X ;)
Cheers,

Wayne
