Just seen this on the bay. Nice looking set with Dunham sticks.

The orange case indicates that's quite an early one! However, it looks as if the original encoder has been replaced by a 5044 "piggy-back" board. Not in itself a problem, but the 5044 was very prone to RF pick-up, which resulted in neutral drift as the aerial was extended or collapsed.

The only cure I found for it was to build it on a double-sided board, with a ground plane on the component side.

Those early 35MHz receivers were pretty bullet-proof! I never heard of one suffering any glitching or over-loading at close range.

Would make a nice conversion to 2.4 GHz!

Pete

Is the location of the battery charger DIN socket a standard place on the front next to the joystick? All my Talisman sets have the charging socket on the bottom?

No, charging socket on the bottom was standard. The one on Ebay has been "modified" - quite a bit, from the look of it!
