Here’s one for Mike K
Just finished renovating my clubman super to 7 channels and an SC button (top right). Top left knob is variable rates
Calibrated the battery meter and decided to have channels 5 & 6 switched. The original sliders were shot.
Prefer the switches anyway.
Some of the thumbnails are showing upside down, just click on image for a better res and correct orientation.
This is just an iPhone thing.
No worse than new
Ron

Re: Skyleader 7ch Clubman Super
Hi Ron
You'll be a bit disappointed to hear that to the best of my knowledge, Skyleaders of this period came in plain brown boxes with polystyrene insert to hold in everything. Not much fun in copying that
But most people don't know that, so why not use some artistic licence and do a nice bright box? Show Skyleader how it should have been done. Later sets (Courier onwards I think) did come with an outer sleeve, but they were still plain and boring. I'll snap one for you later.
In fact did any multi set from that period come in fancy packaging? Blue Fleets had plain brown boxes (later ones from the 80’s had an outer sleeve), Horizon made an effort with their packaging, shame they didn't make the same effort with their electronics. Staveley/Swan and MacGregor were OK, I don't know about things like Sprengbrook, Waltron etc as I haven’t got any boxed sets in my collection. The US sets I have are not much better. Japanese and German manufacturers made a bit of an effort, Futaba boxes were mainly black with a bit of green and white text, but no picture of the radio, Sanwa boxes were also black as were MRC. Graupner and Multiplex were colourful, but I think OS takes first prize. The OS Cougar boxes were colourful and the OS Diamond came in an OS branded briefcase! And the briefcases were good quality, a bit like a Japanese Samsonite.
And what makes you think I like Skyleader?
Cheers
Mike

Hi mike
Thanks for the news on the skyleader box, typical, it’s my favourite bit of the restoration
Like you say, the sanwa boxes were black with the exception of the Custom 6, this was brown & had a photo of the transmitter on it from what I remember. I bought one in 1981 @ £148.00, never did pay Dad back for that:-)
I might have a go at a skyleader box, but I’ve got my Gem to finish first and then design a box for that.
I’ll probably make it from balsa like the others - see how it goes.
I’ve no idea why I thought you liked skyleaders, MR Skyleader.
Ron.
