Hi Guys,
Ive decided to build a 1.5 scale sharkface, it was gonna be a 2x version but when I saw how big it was I plummed for the 1.5. size.
I printed the plan myself and just sellotaped it together, Its good enough.
Wingspan comes out at 33" which on the plan looks fairly big still. It will still be single channel on the button, hopefully it should fly just as well as it's smaller brother. Not decided on the covering yet, I'll see how it goes.

Wonder how many times larger it needs to be for one of these?

Re: New 1.5 scale sharkface build
Ron, a twice size Sharkie is a regular monster....been there done that, but a great model to fly.
I think Shaun may have featured an image in his regular column.
The 1.5 scaled version I still have is just sublime, that said it fly's with proportional and electric powered.
I fly with my pal "the Diesel Dave" so have no hang ups about sniffing ether and burnt paraffin.
Dave's Sharkie was made for buttonisation, (one of Phil's SC encoders and Corona 2.4) but he bottled out and fitted one of his many 27mghz propo' wireless's. Dave is a regular user of 27mghz, totally free from glitches or any interference issues.
Cheers,
Mode1

Re: New 1.5 scale sharkface build
Thanks for the input guys,
I’ll just be using electric power for this one and will more than likely use soloretex as I have some left from a previous build. I know it’s s little heavier but my standard size one didn’t complain so this should be fine.
I was thinking of flying this on reeds but I’ve decided to go button only. It’ll be interesting to see the difference between the two sizes.
I’ll be using my new S/C transmitter I built in January.
Ron.

FWIW Ron, I do ribs for a 1.5X sharkface - I've sold more than one, so there must be more of them out there in the wild
Apologies for the blatant advert :_)

Oh bugger, I’ve cut them now.
How are they done, have you kept them exactly to plan or done them for a built up trailing edge?

As per plan, solid (big ) LE.
However, a built up might be a better idea.

Like the original, it looks bulletproof - really nice job
Looks like that'll be the last sexy red see-thru solarfilm you'll be using unless you have a secret stash
Keep an eye on your snail mail BTW
Cheers
