I love Rays off the wall models as well.. Do you know he only ever designed one rc model, a glider (may have had a power pod) had one or two flights and decided it wasn't for him.. back to free flight.

Shaun.

In the Impington MAC book it says:

Ray attempted radio only once, flying a Dandy built by Alan Hunter. Ray
threw the transmitter to the ground after two minutes declaring, “It ain’t natural”.

Hope I'm not in trouble for adding rc to one of his designs :?

Mode one is no place for Luddites, keep adding away Carl .. It's a brilliant conversion...

Nearly got the Ray -rc story correct..Years ago I was chatting with one of his flying mates about his designs and he told me about Rays dislike for anything RC....Old age eh.. isn't it brilliant 😞

Cheers,

Shaun

I suppose it was going to be obvious that I would build a baby brother to my Starstream for this years Ponty theme :D

So here it is:

Shaun is going to be my proxy pilot for it as I can't be at the event personally, but wanted to be involved in some way. Just need to test fly it, but hopeful as it only weighs 48g/1.7oz (that includes the battery), then I'll send it up to Shaun.

It uses a tiny drone 1S motor and the same esc and receiver that Wayne has used in his 50% Pageboy. I used tiny linear servos for the elevator and rudder.

You'll need to be careful big Starstream doesn't ingest the little 'un.

It was a bit too windy for it, but tried a test flight of the Baby Starstream today. The main thing is that it has enough power, but the wind made it tricky to control. As long as I flew straight ahead it was ok :D
