OK, OK, if you want the full story ........ I made a wooden mould and formed the canopy by heat shrinking a plastic water bottle around it, only getting one good enough to use at the third attempt. I couldn't find a pilot of a suitable size but I wanted to get on with it so...... no pilot.
If you want more sordid details..... The picture was taken before fuel proofing. Despite doing a compatibility test piece on an old wing, the fuel proofer has blistered the black paint on the chevrons on the wing........ 'Not sure what I'm going to do about that yet?

Re: Ponte 2023 .....It's on !
Here is my latest Ponte 2023 model.
It should be a free plan feature in RCM&E in a few months. Not sure what's in the editorial queue atm. Great flight manners , quick build, 48" span sheeted wing.
Available on Outerzone if you want one before then.
If you are building it feel free to message me for the mods I made.
Shaun.

Re: Ponte 2023 .....It's on !
To save me repeating the info here we go:-
Scrap the original elevon mixing method and use 2 wing tip mounted servos
I would build the fus pod separately, not on the wing as described in the original article. This makes covering much easier unless you are using tissue and dope.
It should be possible to easily make the model from depron if you are a heathen.
Servos:- ideally metal geared. Analogue fine, 12mm thick means you won't have to make a blister to cover them in the wing. I used some MPX Tiny-S (HS81 HiTec)
Motor:- I used a 2205-2300 drone motor with a 5 x 4.5 - 3 bladed prop.
ESC:- 20A with bec.
Lipo:- 1250mAh 3S . Make sure this will fit in the fus, if not modify the formers to give extra width, height. Also mine just balanced without any additional lead. It wouldn't do any harm to lengthen the nose by an inch to give some leeway as my battery was fully forward.
Mine came out ready to fly inc lipo at 18ozs, and gave about 150watts on the meter. Original Cox babe bee powered model flew well. This was around 40-50 watts .
Make sure C of G is correct. Flying wings are not as tolerant if you are out.
Hopefully will be test flying this weekend.

Ponte 2023 is getting closer to be around the corner....are you getting close to be ready with what you are are going o bring or fly at a sight of your choice in the Ponte spirit? If nothing unforeseen happens I'm looking forward to attend.
Just a quick note, if any of you are looking for something that I can help with please PM, mainly concerning 3d printed parts or some of my boards and please , don't wait to the last minute...

Well, I was hoping to bring a retro classic aerobatic model, but construction has proven much more complex than I anticipated! I might still get it done, but its going to be touch and go!
However, I have a Plan "B", and also an interesting vintage heli, so all is not lost!

Vintage heli...unfortunately I can't bring this one!
Completely original and still nitro with the original engine.
Yupp, an original Graupner 212 Twin-Jet

Re: Ponte 2023 .....It's on !
It's depending on having a model ready, and tested - for which time is very short - but I'm planning on attending the Ponte meeting. I'd love to see the Single Channel Day and would love to participate. However if I do make it to Ponte I'll certainly have a model or two for the electric flight day on the Saturday, even if I'm just a spectator on the Sunday. I note that it's the same weekend as Flying Legends at Church Fenton, so expect the air to be full of Spitfires, Mustangs, Hurricanes and the occasional Messerschmitt, albeit only in transit to the display.

May I suggest the building of a PageBoy or a Guided Mite, should not take more than a few hours for the single channel event.

Re: Ponte 2023 .....It's on !
I don't currently have a single channel set, but was thinking possibly a Schoolboy as a relatively quick build, that I could put current proportional gear in for the Saturday.
