I love the plan for a mystery, quick build theme model to be announced just three weeks prior to the event. I'll plan to join the fun and build the model in the time allotted even though the event is a bit out of my reach.

Hmm.....what could it be???? I have a guess that I'll file away for now. :?:

Mike K is planning to build one at the field on the day..
With the part kit and super glue it is possible in 1 1/2 hrs max...

Right. Sounds like the tradition here in the states and elsewhere I'm sure of building a "plank" model from scrap wood or a shipping crate at the field in limited time for u-control flying. Good fun.

I love the idea of the mystery behind this build but was wondering what the part kit may comprise of, I have very little in the way of power systems/spares so an order will likely have to be placed to purchase parts.

Given the time taken for an order to arrive (possibly from China) and the speed at which I build and test fly I am concerned as to whether 3 weeks is enough time for me, but if I had all the parts ready and waiting....who knows I might be able to just about make it.

Do we get to know the power requirements beforehand or is this all part of generating anticipation for the build?

Hi Ade,
I'll let you know the power requirements one month before the event.
The part kit doesn't include any electronics just some of the wood parts.
What's a test flight for....just fling it off on the day

Thanks for the reply Shaun, no test flight eh?

Reminds me of my Blunderbird attempt.

Ok, so I have 5 weeks to find a house get moved, find and finish converting my radio, find/buy an engine, build a model, learn to fly again and learn to fly on the button. Simples!!! :?

Think the best I can do is turn up and introduce myself. Looking forward to putting a face to some of the names on here.

Just arrived home,

What a great day the event was, really nice to meet a few more forum members and put a face to a name.
The weather was exceptional. Thanks to Phil & Shaun once again for this superb do. Can’t believe it’s the 7th!

I didn’t take many photos but I’ll upload them here shortly.

PS, hope everyone likes the mugs :?
