Christmas Holiday Projects?

Hi all.
How many of you are stocking (Pardon the pun) up for model building projects during the Christmas hols?
I always get the jitters this time of year thinking of 11 days away from work, bog all on TV, (not that I ever watch it) and the horror of being without materials for various projects.
Shops either shut or very busy, post delays etc, kids wreaking havoc...time to retreat to the building room...

Me?
Poppet wing to build and cover.
PAW 55 to test.
Try again to get my head around Arduino.
Play with the Fly Sky FS-i6 that is languishing under the bench new and unused.
Start on the Smeed Chatterbox that I've been told us a wrong-un, but I'm determined to build.

Balsa sheet/strip and beech bearer wood in stock? Check.
Appropriate wheels? Check.
No11 blades? Check.
Mince pies? Check.
Yorkshire tea? Check.
Cellulose thinners?....no. Must get...

I don't get ANY holidays Christmas or otherwise. Don't get any sick days either. In fact my occupation is a 24/7 one...……………………………………………………………………...I'm retired :D
In fact last September 30th I did 22 years in this role with no sign of promotion or being sacked!

Phil

It's clearing up the mess 80 dogs make when they've been fed must be the problem...

And who gets to walk 80 dogs on Christmas day? Rather you than me

Ho Ho Ho, Merry Christmas to you all :D 🎄

You northern hemisphere types should be trapped inside away from the cold furiously building I guess. We in the Great South Land have the opposite problem - in my part of Aus on the eastern side, we are expecting 33C on Christmas Eve, 37 Chrissy Day, 39 Boxing Day and 41 - 43C the following 4 days. Not sure what's happening in the west. Hopefully Gary you'll have the Freemantle Doctor each afternoon to drop any high temperatures?

It's difficult to build when the glue sets before it hits the balsa & the perspiration dripping from your forehead onto the timber makes it swell & twist   Flying early morning or late evening is the only way to fly!!

Wherever you may be, have a great festive season ;)

Oh man, that sounds dreadful! I once had a modelling room in the attic, and in summer I used to really suffer for my art...
How do the Australians model upside down?
I quite like modelling in the winter holidays and it's amazing how much you can get done given a nice long uninterrupted session. Our village had a power cut for two hours yesterday night, the kids were all 'B But....how do we get the internet?.....'

I thought it was bliss.

December 25th is also Isaac Newton's birthday. Obviously the Patron Saint of retro aeromodellers!

Feliz Gravidad! to one and all!

For me..
Build a Mayfly, plans printed and stock of wood/scalpel blades and plasters at the ready. This will be GG .

Second project is to convert a Skyleader Tx to 2.4, Arduino board in stock.
Just have to sidle off in to the man cave when no ones looking....
Wish me luck!
