Simple question.
If you had to choose another hobby to replace Aeromodelling, what would it be?
Other hobby

Re: Other hobby
If I couldn't do aeromodelling it would just leave more time for my "other" hobby which is sailing, and if I couldn't do that......... anything but golf!

Re: Other hobby
Mechatronics
Ham-radio - W4TDK / SM6YXK
Building things
Fuel burning boating (mostly for my kids)
Outdoor life
...but all this is included in the old fashion modeler I think
Almost forgot before a professional career in aviation flying was a hobby and I built and flew this one in the early 80's, Colibri MB2 with a 1700 VW engine, I was 23-24 at the time and didn't new better

Returning to aeromodelling is the new one for me, mostly I cycle, ride my horse, and shoot target air rifles in competition.
I'm also a very lapsed class A radio amateur.

Ah yes..... I forgot to mention that I am also Radio Amateur (ME0PWJ) but my only rig is on the boat and it only gets used on long trips...... which means not very often these days.

Boat modelling, preferably scale and yachts or photography
But NOTHING could ever replace aeromodelling - model BUILDING and flying that is, not the current definition, as far as I am concerned one of the greatest cop outs in history was to change the name of the national body from SMAE to BMFA which I suspect was done mainly in pursuit of Sports Council recognition (and grants - that worked then!). And yes, I do have a couple of ARTFs, they are OK to chuck in the car for a flying outing and for re-booting the flying reflexes after the winter down season, but I don't feel any emotional attachment to t hem. It is comforting to be on this forum and know I am not QUITE the last of the dinosaurs!!
