Trimming down muy accumulated stuff and selling this stuff to fund My Marklin habit...
Is it OK to post such ads and links here? if not I'll take it down.

Hi Stew,
I don’t mind you advertising your radio on here. If you get a good price maybe a voluntary small contribution to the upkeep of the forum may be in order.
Thanks
Ron.

Yes I saw that and put in a bid. Last year I got hold of a KK Chief built in 1968 in similar condition to do sympathetic repairs and this looks like another candidate. Plus I want a Soarcerer
Looks like I'm the new owner of the Soarcerer
Well the Soarcerer arrived today. Wondered what to expect
And it's better than expected
What I can say is that it's beautifully made - the ebay photos didn't do it justice. The quality of the build is superb. Little details show real craftsmanship. The wing has already been treated with something - so doesn't require any remedial work.
So there are only two things required - yes only two things
- The tailplane needs recovering - that was obvious. I have some old, aged tissue that'll be perfect.
- Radio gear to be installed
I need to find a south facing slope. The coast here faces west and it seems it's so rare for the wind to blow from the west that I'm never going to get into slope soaring. The wind most commonly comes from the South. The other problem is that the coastline here is very rugged and will be unforgiving to an inexperience pilot. Better start hunting

Thanks Paul for the link. There is a site not too far from me that would be good for me to get to and possibly meet some other rc pilots. A local chap gave me a glider recently and it's somewhere he flies gliders and often others are there too. I notice on the slopehunter site that's it's very good for north and possible south, so I'll go along and have a look to see what it's like for a southerly wind.

It shows Brean Down as a good spot.... only if you can be 100% certain you can make a top landing, cos if you can't you are on the rocks or in the sea.

Just goes to show, ebay is a gamble... poor old Derek did very poorly on his radios:
MR200, two receivers, went for £25
REP four channel reed set went for £23, I would have expected £100 minimum!
REP three channel reed set went for £43
And some times you get lucky Phil, Derek's loss is my gain (sorry Derek).
I already have a REP 8 channel and a 3 channel set so bid on and won the 4 channel. I thought it would go way above what I was prepared to pay, but didn't
Is everybody too busy getting ready for Ponty to look on eBay?
Mike
