EBL PP3 9V 6F22 9 Volt Block Li-Ion Batteries

These are 2S 8.4v lithiums in a convenient PP3 format and optionally come with a charger. It doesnt balance charge, balancing is done internally inside the battery, so there are just the two standard PP3 terminals. I first used them in my OS Pixie thread, and also in the micro 2ch "one evening" project. I've tested them and they deliver the full 600mAh claimed, they're great little batteries for small domestic stuff as well as for trannies.

If they were 3S they would be a fraction over 12.6V when freshly charged, and even when discharged as low as is good for Li-Ion they'd still be over 9V. So, as Phil says, they're only 2S.

OK Phil, 2s and 8.4v. But that must only be when straight off the charger - have you tested the terminal voltage when they are reasonably discharged? The nominal terminal voltage should, I would have thought, drop to around 7.4v - not that it matters in this environment when all we really need is 5 volts. I was just curious as to if they were actually 9v and did they maintain that throughout their discharge.

I wondered if they were 3s and had a 9v regulator built in Martin so as to maintain 9v.....

No they behave exactly like a 2S 600mAh lipo Mike. They charge to 8.4v and under the very light load of a typical transmitter they settle around 8v.
Obviously they will eventually discharge to whatever you feel is safe, I top-up before they get to 3.6 per cell.
The key thing is the light load - we're so used to a brushless motor taking say 10 amps from a lipo, we tend to forget that a transmitter draws two orders of mag less, so the battery holds its voltage very well and lasts months between charges with no noticeable self-discharge.
I really like them, you need good a good quality PP3 connector though, the ten-for-a-pound ones are appalling!
Cheers
Phil

I s'pose I could lash out and buy the 5 for £2 variety...

I use their own charger, it has PP3 clips so you just stick the batteries into the base, it lights up and goes green when done. Easy peasy :D

You only ever need two tools....WD40 and duct tape.
If it doesn't move when it should use the WD40 and if it moves and it shouldn't use the tape.
