This is the Graupner power pod kit documentation & parts details, intended for their Cirrus & Cumulus 2800 sailplanes, using a 1.0 - 1.5cc motor.

The basic configuration could easily be modified for electric power. ;)
Cheers,

Thanks for that Wayne, I hadn't seen it before but it reminds me very much of an all alloy pod that my late flying buddy John Harrison and I developed back in the early seventies. The one in the photo was John's with a 1.5cc diesel and metal tank, I had versions with TD049s and 1 ounce clunk tanks that I flew on my Soarcerer and Amigo II. The illustration below from my Thermal Soaring book shows what they looked like, I suppose you could do an electric version with the ESC and slim 800 lipo mounted in the tube.

Just noticed this too, I have an original unused NIB (new in bag :-) ) pod in my old cirrus box in the attic. My 40 yo cirrus is due for another recover (#4) :-) An electric conversion sounds like a plan for 2019 !
I managed to whiten the fuselage last time with cellulose thinners wiped on/off - it was getting a bit yellow.
I wonder how many hours it has flown ?????
