Hi,
Has anybody got a copy of the Bumble-B plan. Designed by Dave Boddo , 1970 ish. For the foam wing that was also used on the Kestrel, Flapper, Planet and Nipper quick build series of kits sold by Micro Mold.
It was a mid wing, pylon racer style model for an 0.049 .
Cheers,
Shaun.
PS Andy Boddo doesn't have a copy.. Already asked.

Hi,
I afraid not. It was called the Bumble-B not the Bumble bee and designed for the Micro mold foam wing. It didn't look anything like a bee.

If all else fails, why not ask Boddo (Junior)

While Aeromodeller mag is predominantly FF and CL, he is also very receptive to accounts describing modern use of unfamiliar Boddo designs

Have you a photo of it, even from an advert or similar? If so you could probably scale it as you are already halfway there, you already have the wing.
Boddo was renowned for never designing a similar thing twice, he just put together existing bits in different designs. If it was mid-wing, it probably looked like a Nipper (which was a bit like a Ghost Rider 50), but with a canopy and turtle deck. I can look through old RCM&E or RM for adverts of it, when do you think they were on sale, the early to mid-70s?
Was Ali Machinchy involved with Micro Mold? If he were, he'd probably have two or three kits.

Cheers Mike, I'll give Ali a call.
Speaking with Andy Boddo, I believe all the foam wing series used the same tailplane shape (other than the Kestrel) and as you said were variations on a theme.

Had a chat with Ali this afternoon; he doesn't have one in his collection.
Yes Mike you are right; he used to work for Micro Mold
