building 2.4 transmitter using Macgregor Codamac

Advice please.
I would like to convert my 27mhz Codamac to 2.4ghz. I am NOT an electronics wizard at all. I assume I will need a new receiver and a servo ( I gather the Elmic escapements are not reliable enough now) Again what would be recommended. What sort of battery will I need(I used to use AA batteries before!).What is recommended and who is the best supplier. I have a Tomboy in mind as the airframe powered by an AM10 or 15.
