Hi All
I'm having to start packing ready for Ponty this evening, as it's the last free day I have - I'm playing Series Land Rovers tomorrow and then Steam Traction Engines for the next few days (my other hobbies).
One thing I'm bringing along to Ponty is a very early Good Brothers/Beacon Transmitter from the late 1940's (it's the one on the right) and is destined for Shaun's collection. They were the very first commercially available radio control sets for modellers (as apposed to the military) and started production in 1946 and finished production in 1949, before ED or Mercury/Cossor had even started production in the UK. There is a good article (if you'll excuse the pun) about the Good Brothers radio control gear on the R/C Hall of Fame website:

I've also got another Good Brothers/Beacon Tx, Rx and escapement, all in near new condition and I thought I'd take a photo of them as it will be the last time that the two transmitters are together.
See you all at Ponty
Mike
