Midwest Products Prestige 6 radio

Post by stuart mackay »

Here ya go guys, anyone else got one of these?

They were sold in limited quantities by Keith Jones and Terry Cooper (ex Staveley) and, designer of the Radio Modeller Swinger multi aerobatic design, in the 70s.

Keith and Terry designed and sold the Bulldog and Meteor 60 back then, but there my memory starts to go dim.

I don't recall seeing many about back in the day and, hopefully, this might spark some memories to shed some more info from those active "in period".

Pic of Tx and Rx in its current state looks a bit sorry for itself, but I hope to resurrect it for posterity's sake soon.

Hi Stuart

looks an interesting project to resurrect, what's the finish on the Tx casing?, is it a vinyl type finish or painted....

Stick units look familiar as used in other gear but my ancient brain cannot remember , be interested in seeing how your getting on with this as time progresses..

The case is a two piece red gel-coated polyester resin fibreglass!
The stick units look like those used in Sprengbrook/ Brand Microprop radios from the mid 70s.

Here are a couple of pics after attacking it with Methanol and a scrubbing brush, should come up ok but would like to find a pair of new stick bezels ,because the "chrome" plating on the plastic is not too clever! Can anyone assist? Have asked Mike K and he only has one!
The receiver has plugs for 3wire servos, unusual for the era?

Let's not bother with cash. I'll swap them for a Moki 250 radial.
That seems fair. :D

I found an advert for the joysticks, but I think you might be a bit too late to buy any new ones - RCM&E May 1972...
