Re: Another brand new set comes my way,
Spotted on Facebook market place amongst a lot of plastic toys& cheap radios, lady didn’t want to post, but my offer persuaded her, it’s pre my M series I bought from Jim Davis Models, 45 yrs ago, it’s totally absolutely new, it’s never been out of the box, the DEACs seem to have never been charged, it’s got a set of 27 MHz crystals in sealed containers, frequency ribbons are in an unopened packet, servos are in their own boxes, with accessories, Ariel has never been extended, there’s not a mark, dint or any wear scratch on it, even the outer box is very good, it’s missing a charge lead, I believe this set has an on board charger, It’s a time capsule, question is, where has it been for 50+ years? And where’s the rest of the models, Engines etc, that the original owner had! The seller had no more info, got the feeling she was a house clearance person, good eh?

Nice find Alan but it's a crying shame these things sit around unused for years, I hope you manage to put it to good use.
Earlier this year via word of mouth I found and purchased an unused Hirobo helicopter with a new 9 channel Futaba 35mHz Tx and Rx and a never started OS 32 helicopter engine plus servos and gyro. The model was built in 2001 and flew for the first time ever yesterday.

It won’t get used by me, it’s only new once, so, it will end up in someone’s collection when I get tired of looking at it, I looked on acquiring it as a rescue mission,

Re: Another brand new set comes my way,
A really lucky find Alan! I have converted one of these though mine is nowhere near as pristine as yours. I sympathize with your desire to leave it as it is but these things were built to be used, it would make a lovely conversion and be much more useable should you decide to do that. Yes, it had a built-in charger, I don't use that but left the transformer in place because it is heavy and improves the balance of the transmitter when the antenna is extended. A word of caution..... Age had caused the white plastic yokes in the stick units to become brittle and one of mine failed while I was flying........ I was lucky to get the model down in one piece! I later found a really manky old transmitter to rob a stick unit from. It is a true "classic".

Your stick problem sounds a good reason not to use it! When I get tired of showing it off, it will be for the next custodian to make the use it or not decision, nice job you’ve done there, thanks for the charger info, I am still looking for a charge lead, how would the receiver deac gat charged, ?

Re: Another brand new set comes my way,
I never had the charging lead so I'm not sure what happened about charging the receiver battery but the socket has four pins so I imagine the plug would have had two leads coming from it, one for the mains and a second thinner lead for charging the Rx battery....,.... You appear to have the manual so does it tell you in there.....?

Re: Another brand new set comes my way,
Still got the very same set like this that I used when I started propo RC back in the 70's, although mine looks somewhat more 'dog eared' than yours. The charging lead, that you don't have, Plugs into the mains and the charger in the Tx charges the Tx and Rx batteries. The Rx battery is configured to supply a split supply to the servo's. +2.4v - 0v - -2.4v. Plus, the servos are somewhat different having FIVE wires.
Not sure if I still have the charging lead but I'll have a look over the next week and let you know.
