An interesting setup for GG single function, ailerons and rudder coupled.
Looks like it could be fitted with a motor.

It's different Dave 8-)

You would certainly need a powerful actuator - looks like an ACE Stomper on the drawing - and very free controls. I'm a little surprised that there's not some aerodynamic balancing on the control surfaces to reduce the flying loads on the actuator.

Are you going to build it?

....I had a few of the Merlin and they fly amazingly well. Plan B would be to use one of my single action actuators and undoubtedly there will plenty of "Puff"

Wayne,
In the article yes, they used a Stomper, the sewn hinges shown on the plans are very free in my experience, when I use them I use a Kevlar thread, work well and durable.

The control surfaces look small/narrow, loads would be lighter in my opinion, giving the stomper a little more mechanical advantage.

Thanks Tobe,
But I already have 4 of the singles and your copy of the Controlaire 2 channel. After Christmas I will be building again, and getting some rudder only aircraft in the air, along with a couple of competition thermal soarers.

The Merlin look nice, but I don't have a single channel safe slope to fly off in my part of Sydney.

Thanks Anyway,

Dave
