That's great! I didn't realize it was Sat AND Sun...... it only says 14th on their website?
I will bring the still unflown Soarcerer, a 40 odd y/o Monterey and my 40 y/o OD kipper, if I can get it ready in time.

We go for the weekend as it's a long way. The "official" date is the 14th.

Re: Ivinghoe anyone?
I'm only going for Saturday because this year the date clashes with the Bedfordshire Steam Rally at Old Warden, I'll skip the rally on the Saturday, and come to meet up with everybody at Ivinghoe.

If anybody likes steam traction engines and vintage aircraft, this is the event to go to. There will be 100+ traction engines and showman engines, 100+ miniature steam engines (including our 1/2 scale Burrell Steam Traction Engine), hundreds of vintage cars and tractors AND the Shuttleworth Collection museum will be open and is included in the price of entry for the Steam Rally (which is the same price as normal entry to the Shuttleworth Collection, so is a real bargain). And Shuttleworth is planning a small air display on the Sat and Sun to add to the entertainment.

Re: Ivinghoe anyone?
Well, I'm just about ready
The Monterey was published in 1971 and I built this one in the late 70s / early 80s..... It is certainly showing signs of age but it still flies nicely.
The kipper is my own design and was the last of a series of "Lapwings". This was built in the early/middle 80s, so is about 40 y/o.
The Soarcerer was published in 1969 and I built my first one in the early 70s. It was my introduction to slope soaring and indeed, to propo. The one in this picture is brand new and apart from a couple of test glides, is unflown on the slope.....,.

Re: Ivinghoe Pete Beadle Nostalgia Day Sept 14th anyone?
The Ivinghoe club have announced at very short notice that the official "Pete Beadle Nostalgia Day" is cancelled because the wind direction isnt good. Several of us have booked accommodation and time off and its too late to cancel so will be going anyway, to make the best of whatever the weather turns up. Whilst it would be great to see the mode-zero crowd on the 14th, no-one should feel guilty about postponing their visit until the official re-run, its all good
We'll be there on the 14th and I bet a few local flyers turn up too
We might not get perfect conditions on the day but we're a hardy lot & will have a go in anything
We're not gate-crashing a club event by the way, we were invited by Pete himself in 2019, but of the last 4 Nostalgia Days, 3 were cancelled so became just a mode-zero gathering, & we've always had a great time!
Cheers
Phil

Just a reminder of previous years:
2019 - flat calm, on the South slope, Nick's depron 'Zeitgeist' stole the show, Mike flew his GG Impala
2020 and 2021 was covid
2022 - a good westerly, a proper days flying
2023 - light southerly winds but perfectly flyable, eking out the lift
2024 - ???

What a brilliant day. Good strong breeze almost bang on the west slope and a great turnout.
