I did take the Blunderbird with me a couple of weeks ago with the intention of a first 'off the coastline' launch, but the wind was blowing at about 45deg to the slope, so that was no good especially for a novice. I did fly my servo control Pulstar which was good fun until it seemed to suddenly lose height - which was no problem as the tide was out, but it still managed to find a puddle to stick it's nose in and blow the speed controller. Typical :x

After some successful flights off the coastline with the Eagle Soarer last week I've prepared my Blunderbird glider for when I next have the opportunity. I've now added elevator - I found elevator invaluable for making progress forward into the wind.

Here it is with my Aerotron tx

Found a nice place to mount the elevator servo in the front compartment

Tailplane is still banded on - elevator joiner is carbon rod going through a tube in the centre

The Tx looks like it's based on the RCM&E kit built set...

Glad the BB is now ready to be flown other than free flight😀

Yes well I learned my lesson to never do a test glide without the radio gear on - but it was a great glide though ;)

Went sloping today and the Blunderbird 1 proved to be a great flyer of the cliffs near me. I have some footage, so will put together a few clips. I kept the model out and away from the cliffs, so not much close up footage especially when using an action cam on my cap.
