Mark, thanks so much for the offer, but postage may be prohibitive from Canada I should think.

I'm after a short kit cut for the 'Mini Eros' (42 inch). designed originally by John Coasby, and scaled down with alterations for R/C by Mr. Boddington.
It's a very handsome little cabin model that has Bowden comp written all over it, but it looks the devil to cut out the ply formers...and I'm a lazy sod at best.

Stew.
Yes Stew; shipping would be about $60 (approx £35). On the up side rage kit wouldn’t be too pricey.

Thanks Mark. I'll give it some consideration.

Tobe, I had no idea people used a mix of balsa and plastic parts! It's very original thinking, but I'll be honest, I'm a bit of a traditionalist...even laser cutting is on the edge for me, and I only use that because I'm terminally lazy.

I'm what I think they call a 'gentleman modeller' :D in that if I can commission a model to be built by someone else, I will. I have no qualms about that. But...I can still do it myself if I must, hence the search for laser cut parts.
I'm also very fussy about accuracy, so again the laser cutting helps.
The model is for the Bowden trophy competition hopefully, and I think BOM rules still apply, so that's why I'm doing this one myself.

We've all used a mix of wood and plastic for years - things like control horns, clevises, saddle clamps, cockpit glazing, receiver and servo cases... The only difference now is that we can design and 3D print some plastic parts ourselves, rather than buying them all! :D

I suppose when you put it like that, yes, I guess we have!
I'm not an 'early adopter' by any means, more a total luddite! but I can certainly see the benefits.

FYI.
When I set up to laser cut parts from an actual drawing I need depending of size and amount of parts upp to a day...but just a set of ribs and a few formers is done in an hour or two. The main issue is to get the right critical measurement especially if you are working from a scanned copy but if the drawing is available in a vector .pdf or .dxf it's just easy peasy!
My problem when I start to cut is that I make to many pieces/sets and I end up using more balsa than necessary and a few extra kits that are good to have but that probably will never been built!
Cheers,

Tobe

I've actually been looking at a desktop CNC router kit this morning, but the price is above my threshold for 'shiny things' and there's the software packages too. One day maybe.

Stew; I can cut a short kit of the Mini-Eros for $75. Shipping will be in the region of $25 for small packet air mail. so a total of about 60 GBP. Here is a pdf of what is included in the short kit.
