Hi folks.
Can anyone recommend a nice gloss black paint that is resistant to model diesel fuel? It's for an engine bay. I've decided that future power models will have engine bays that are coloured the same as the fuselage. I think it shows the engine off well.
Stew.

Re: Diesel resistant black paint
Can't speak for diesel but we used enamel paint for methanol as opposed to lacquer which just fried up.
Maybe consider epoxy 2 pack for diesel.
Might be a suck it and see project.

Re: Diesel resistant black paint
Actually regular lacquer/dope will do fine. Diesel fuel is kerosene based and doesn't need the application of any regular fuel proofing like regular methanol base fuel that affect dope. What you have to be careful with is to dope ever inch of the model carefully as the castor oil will find it's way to get and penetrate into the wood if there is any bare spot.
An other issue is the fuel tubing where silicone is a not to recommend, just use regular "plastic" tubing suitable for petrol.
