Frequency Hopping experiments on the NRF24 & full tx/rx

I've had this issue on a Stavely set and with a new old stock Quantum 6 stick unit. I would agree with Phil it's a dodgy pot track or pot track rivets where the solder tags are. The Stavely had a Kraft unit, rivets had come loose on the tags. Quantum 6 it was the plastic on the yoke that had a hairline crack in so the pot shaft kept moving.

A poke round with a stick revealed problems when any of the connections on the aileron pot were touched. All the other pots were good as gold. A new pot has fixed the problem. To make sure the set has been turned off and on about a gazillion times over the last few days and all's working perfectly.

Overall I think these 50-year-old sets have proven incredibly durable, theres bound to be the odd one though
At some stage of its life it could have been dropped onto the stick, etc generally we dont know their history
but its great to see them flying again You remembered to re-calibrate with the new pot?
I flew the new 'Pocket NRF' today at Baildon, no problems. I might up the stick tension a bit, its a tad light for my banana fingers

This is a really neat little set from the 1980s made by Cannon, at the time I believe it was the smallest, lightest R/C set commercially available.
This one was kindly donated by Mel Duval (thank you Mel!) and has been converted to 2.4ghz using my humble 'lockdown' FHSS project code.
It was originally on 72Mhz (a non-UK band) and the main PCB was badly corroded, so I didnt feel guilty modifying this one.
The Dunham sticks feel nice after a spray of Electrolube, I had to swap out one faulty stick-pot, the aileron, which, being the 'busiest' control seems reasonable but overall its remarkable for a 40-year-old set. The converted set works perfectly and will be flying again for the first time in 40+ years at our next slope-soaring session.

By chance I was given another Talisman Pete, a bit rough but it loaned a pot until I can find a replacement, do you need one?

No, don't worry Phil. I believe that the factory (in Spain?) that made the cermet pots burned down decades ago, so they are like rocking horse manure! Mick managed to find some plastic film replacements - you needed to change the wipers as well as the pot track - which were very good, but very expensive! I fitted them to one Tx, many years ago, where they still reside.

I just wondered if you had found a source of replacements. My UHF Tx has at least one iffy pot, but I can live with it for the moment.

Tobe kindly sent me some of the pots he uses in his sticks, and I did start trying to 3D print parts to retro-fit them to Dunhams, but the project got stalled by more urgent things. Time to revisit that one, I think....!
