Multiplex Mlink-FrSky-Telemetry converter
Posted: 02 Feb 2021, 16:58
I would like to share some words about a project, I am following now for years.
Started here in 2015 with Tobis thread
https://openrcforums.com/forum/viewtop ... 275#p99610
Some people (me also) went over to another (German) forum, where a discussion was going on about using M-Link on FrSky Taranis.
https://fpv-community.de/threads/x9e-un ... st-906689
There Dieter joined and he did the programming on Teensy 3.0 and Teensy LC basis.
As this forum proved a bit chaotic, we finally changed forums again and started here
https://www.rc-network.de/threads/opent ... r.581603/
We had a fully working! converter based and Dieters work.
But then Reinhardt stepped in with a very compact programming on Arduino promini 5V/16MHz.
The circuit for Reinhardts converter
https://www.rc-network.de/threads/opent ... t-11906184
GND and Signal from the MPX Module and Vcc, GND and Signal on to serial port of Taranis.
(I use MPX HFMG3 module and the serial port in X9D battery bay.)
The final code and the source code you can find here
https://www.rc-network.de/threads/opent ... t-6993588
As there are some users, who wanted to place the converter inside the M-Link module, use the 3.3V from the MPX module and use a 3.3V/8MHz promini, Reinhardt also published a code for this
https://www.rc-network.de/threads/opent ... t-11878840
This now is a promini converter which is well proven and working!
I use this with my MPX M-Link receivers and used some MPX sensors (vario and gps). But I now only using openXsensors (vario, voltage, current, rpm and gps).
Reinhardt was thinking ~one year ago about using an attiny for the job and Ralf picked that up that idea and published a code for this device here
https://shop.watterott.com/Wattuino-Nan ... ootloader
As I like to experiments and soldering, I bought some attinys 841 and made first successful tests here
https://www.rc-network.de/threads/opent ... t-11892404
Reinhardt (in discussion with Ralf) now published a for the moment final code for the attiny
https://www.rc-network.de/threads/opent ... -11918672
With the lock down and Xmas days, I stated my first! PCB project wit KiCad and designed a small board for the attiny.
First try was without led, but second one I added a led, this is helpful a the led gives boot and status messages out.
https://www.rc-network.de/threads/opent ... t-11917395
The soldering is a bit challenging for an old guy like me and this converter is really tiny, but I like do do things like that.
If there are any questions on this project, feel free to ask. I am happy to try to answer.
