Single Channel TX Analyser with LCD Screen

Post by RON »

Hi guys,
Here is a video demo of my latest project, the single channel transmitter analyser.
It’s based on Phil’s ppm tester sketch with a few mods.
I’ve custom made it specifically for use on SC transmitters that use Phil’s SC encoder.
The display shows the Mid motor setting percentage, high or low rates, kick up elevator and rudder output in microseconds. It gets all this information by reading the PPM stream. Its connected via the charging socket,

PS sorry about the quality of the video, it was a little dark in the room, plus trying to video Lcds is a nightmare.

Slightly altered the SC tester sketch. It now includes left and right arrows when pressing the rudder button.
Finished the casing off and added a chrome handle on the top.

Added the new decal and logo to the front. Think that’s it finished, though always up for suggestions or additions.

Very nice project and another high quality build Ron.

I have still to box my ppm tester after far far too many months.

Thanks Ade

I can recommend RS for very nice enclosures. The Takachi range are particularly nice.

Thanks Shaun

Just added another to the lineup. This is a 16x2 White OLED version. Just using up my displays.
The refresh rate on these OLED displays is very high so you get virtually no flicker whatsoever. They are far superior to ordinary LCD displays. Obviously more expensive but again, you get what you pay for. If it’s worth doing, do it right.
I really like this one. Goes well with the grey and white casing.

And finally,

A 4 line OLED display in yellow. This is a really nice display.
Super clear text.

Better photos of the 20x4 yellow oled,
These are easily viewable outdoors too.
the rear panel has 2 Din sockets on, one for the PPM input from TX and one for programming the Arduino for software changes and future expansion

If anyone is interested in doing an OLED version, Here are the pinouts, they differ slightly from the original lcd version...they are easier, less pins used

I always hot glue mount a Nano straight on the back of the display, makes it compact and neat

here is a tester sketch showing which library to use.
