VHF radio reqd,

Post by GarydNB »

Hi folks,
A bit of a long shot but with a few ham-radio guys on here I thought it might be worth asking.
As some of you know, we live on a narrowboat and currently we're moored in Selby, Yorkshire. Unfortunately, the canal we're on is between the river Aire and the river Ouse and the best way off is via the Aire, buuuut....the way off has been blocked by a damaged bridge so the only other option is to go out on the Ouse and through Goole harbour (not ideal) and there lies my predicament....to go through a tidal, commercial waterway you need a vhf radio and a license to operate it.
Sooooo...would anyone on here have a handheld vhf radio spare that I could buy, beg, borrow or steal?
Thanks all

Gary

The Baofeng hand-held dual band 2-metre 70-centimetre sets are amazingly cheap on Ebay, Amazon, etc. You can buy a pair of them, including shipping, for about £36.

If you only want one, they're about £19 delivered.
