Re: The 2024 Single-Channel & Retro R/C Event !

Years ago my late uncle went to NZ from the UK. Before he left he gave my father & I a huge box of modelling gear. In it was a Cox Pee Wee & a copy of the Aeromodeller with a Ebenezer Triplane it. My late father built it & we took kit to the local field to fly it. The wings had aged with slightly more dihedral than their mounts on the fuselage, so we packed the gap with 1/16th sheet & checked they didn't wobble. We filled the tank on the Pee Wee & launched. As it flew the packing fell out & various aerobatic manoeuvres ensued. It must have run for 3 minutes or so, eventually gliding down to a good landing near the railway a good 1/4 mile away. It never flew again for various reasons, the Pee Wee is somewhere here. I'll turn it out sometime & build another.
There is an Aeromodeller copy for sale on EBay here:- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/295949260121

RIP Ernie Hill & Bob Hearnden. Blue skies.

Friday is a horse-racing event at Ponty Park, so we have no access on Friday. The gate will be open early Saturday morning.

That's three helicopters - Check!
One fixed wing aerobatic - Check!
Two single-channel - Check!
One Galloping Ghost - Check!

Just the support kit and overnight case to go in.

Travelling light this time!

On behalf of the “Norfolk” contingent, I would just like to say a BIG THANK YOU to Shaun and Phil for all their hard work and efforts behind the scenes to put together and pull off an event such as this, made even better with the Saturday evening social event as well, now realise why it was windy on Sunday (lots of Curry’s Saturday evening) :-)

It was a thoroughly enjoyable weekend, the rain held off on both days (thankfully) that enabled great flying over the weekend and certainly some very interesting designs taking to the air.

Looking forward and planning new creations for Ponte 25 already.

Thanks Graham, it's appreciated and we're glad you enjoyed the meeting but it's not only Phil & I. it couldn't happen without all the help of the committee as well; We're just a small cog in a big wheel.

Cheers,

Shaun
