Wanted - Gem 1+1 transmitter

I've been searching for a Gem 1+1 transmitter for quite a while and would love to finally find one. My recollection of my early '70's version was of a much more square box than the excellent rather streamlined Mainstream 1+1 case featured in this forum, but I'd be happy with any version.

I'd like to get one and convert to 2.4Ghz, as a project with advice from this site, to fly a new build KK Outlaw and finally manage to succeed with what was my first attempt at radio control that ended in failure some fifty years ago.

Any information or leads gratefully received.

Many thanks

Brian

Brian, I have a spare one.

I think you may be confusing the Micron Elf with it. That was in a squarer case. I can only remember the Gem 1+1 in the thinner case but I may be wrong. The single channel sets were in square cases.

I'll pm you more details.

Rgds,

Shaun.

Frank did a really nice 3D printed Mainstream 1+1 which is the same as a Gem:

Brian, weren't you previously a member of Singlechannellersreunited? I recognise you from RCM&E of course... :D

Thanks Gents - I've had a nice chat with Shaun this afternoon and it sounds like my 70's set was likely a non-propo single channel set, with left and right rudder via that peculiar flat stick and a sequential button operated throttle. The set came with linear servos.

This forum and the deep knowledge behind it is amazing - it's been very informative.

I'll get out some old mags and have a look as I'm intrigued to find out. I've just remembered that a flat stick was made by SLM, it was propo and used by a number of UK radio manufacturers; it wasn't a coder stick unit.

I'm doubting myself now.

Phil could you post a pic of the marine set you mentioned please.

Mike , jump in pal as I'm sure if they did a square boxed 1+1 you'll have one and solve the mystery for Brian.😄

No, that was much fancier than mine.

The closest thing I've seen to the one I had is like this one, in a post on here, but in the Gem cream plastic and with that flat plastic stick and rather than a round button for throttle, it was the same rocker switch as on your Mainstream Gem 1+1

That looks like an SLM case.

Simprop/Mainstream/Gem badged and sold the same gear so your Gem could easily have been that exact set Brian, but with a Gem badge.
The 'flat' sticks are common, made by SLM, my various Talisman 2's use them, also the Micron Elf, Waltron Mini 2 and the Skyleader Clubmate amongst several others.
Martin did square or round surround versions, Kraft did a very similar round version (with flat sticks)

I guess this is the one Brian without a badge. Never seen one in the flesh before.
