Yeah, know what you mean Dave.
Many times this kind of thing happens.
I did have some success last year when I picked up a JR388 with a $60 NiMh pack inside for the cost of postage.($20)
Pretty sure they forgot they were in there.

WOW - it all appears to have gone quickly, not surprisingly.
I picked a great time to be over the Tasman working in NZ, otherwise I'd probably now be driving back to southern NSW from Victoria
Even in Kiwi land, I'm still closer than you Richard
