Nice buttons for single-channel, bind, minute-minders etc

Post by Phil_G »

I found these inexpensive but superb looking microswitch buttons on RS, similar to the ones Ron uses:

They are purchased as three separate items which fit together perfectly, the button cap sits nicely inside the dress nut and they look great. It has a nice audible and tactile 'click' and not excessive travel, a proper button-man's microswitch action. They need a 6mm hole but dont wiggle the drill :D

They have 'make' and 'break' contacts so are equally suitable for S/C on the DigiSpark encoders.
These are the three components:
RS 787-4805 Button cap
RS 787-4808 Dress nut
RS 734-6788 Microswitch push switch

These are prices for 5 of each component, so about £3 for each complete set - bargain :D

You dont need an RS account these days, they sell direct to anyone, my account gets me free delivery but any order over £20 is free delivery for anyone.
PS the Kraft Gold Medal 4 in the photos is a recent DigiSpark conversion awaiting one of the new Lemon RF modules!

On-off switches.
Simple little things but not to be skimped on and the cause of many a wayward model.
This is a high quality switch with silver contacts, not too expensive and rated at 12 amps AC.

Its double-pole so the contacts on one side can be bent over to touch the opposite side, soldered up for resilience. Maybe not for the smallest models, PP3 and 50p for size comparison:

Nice job Phil,

The Dress nut and the button are exactly the same ones, The switch is similar to the C&K version I've used in the past, Your switch looks a better alternative as the C&K ones are now over £6.00! Good shout.. :D

I've used both C&K and clones.
Couldn't find dress nuts for the clones so far.
Good find!

Ebay seems to do the base switch as a one-off, which might be cheaper...

Oddly, this link only works if I 'open in another window'....'?

On my own Little Black Box it's an original C&K with the corresponding button & dress nut, but on another one I made, I've used this one:https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3295689 ... hweb201603_
The same as the Ebay one, only substantially cheaper.
I think Phil's suggestion is the best option, though.

I've look a lot for the bezel for on-off switches, both vertical and horizontal, short of purchasing switch harnesses. Anyone had luck finding them?

I want to replace the switch cover/bezel on a couple of Futaba TX's, the bezel has raised sides, I think to protect from an accidental switch off.

Regarding the Futaba switch cover/bezel. I needed some also and could not find any, so I got some of them 3D-printed.
