Re: Motors past.
Thanks Shaun, 'a very good and complete write up....... but I think I can be excused for never having heard of it! A nice collector's engine, have you ever flown or run it?

No.. never bothered.. I wish I hadn't given the other one I had away to a modeller years ago now. Never appreciated how rare they were at the time. Should have let him have a Cox...

Re: Motors past.
Hi All
Anyone interested in swapping a Mills 0.75 for my Mills 1.3 ?
Needs to be in good working condition, not made in India, not covered in plier marks nor have 1/2" holes where the mounting bolts go )
I've attached a few pics of my Mills 1.3 - static and running - serial is 22285 - the magnesium cased one.
It's in good working condition - case is slightly corroded of course being magnesium - no plier marks
It's about the same age as me - maybe slightly younger
Only mod was to replace the rotted tank internal fuel tube with a modern sexy turquoise variant
Cheers
Neil

Re: Motors past.
There's a special level of hell reserved for those who put pliers anywhere near an engine. I find that a good clean with automotive brake cleaner to remove any grease, and then a big thick elastic band wrapped tightly round the head and suitable application of arm strength gets things moving.
Pliers, mole grips, I've even seen obvious vice marks on one engine...

I can recommend these and as the heading says they are good for bottles and jars as well as model engines. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Two-Piece-Ad ... Sw8d9Ur~5y

Re: Motors past.
Yup, they work well. We use them at work to avoid damage when taking apart Fire Brigade hose reel branch turbojets.
