We don't need to worry about placement of operator numbers in the UK as the CAA have already stated ON or INSIDE the aircraft as long as it's easily accessable I.e. not using special tools to get to.
My particular area of interest is WW1 1914-18.
Aircraft reg numbers didn't start until 1919 in the UK so any form of non scale numbering would ruin the models.

In Australia, we just had a document on implementing Remote ID for models out for comment.
