Testing an old ProMini without Vcc/MHz indication

Post by MaxZ »

I have an old ProMini board that came with a bundle of secondhand stuff, without the Vcc and MHz identified. It does say "The Simple" on the back, so I guess the manufacturer "simply" forgot to do that ;)

I can work out the Vcc by connecting a power source to Vin, and measure Vcc, no problem there. But is there a simple way to check the clocking frequency?

Cheers,
Max.

The "Simple" Pro Mini come in two versions, if it's 5V then it's 16MHz, 3.3V it's 8MHz. Then to confirm the frequency, load the blink sketch and check the blink speed is correct.

I don't know 'The Simple' boards, but this is a helpful YT video for identification what you got on the table ....

I really must be getting old. I was scanning through the "Arduino Stuff" topics, and found that I posted exactly the same question back in nov. 2020, and Mike gave the same answer at that time.
Thanks for patiently repeating that Mike

Cheers,
Max.

Don't worry Max, I must be getting old too as I'd forgotten you'd previously asked
