Re: Junior 60 build
Ah thanks Stew
It’s getting there …. This eve despite feeling rotten with bad cold ( nope not Covid thankfully)
I’ve been spraying in the living room
Despite using posh masking tape I’m still getting bleeding on the edges. So the next bit ( horizontal stab) I have been over the tape edges with the covering iron
Let’s see what happens when I take the tape off

Re: Junior 60 build
Just a quick...bleedings are a pain but if you spray just a light coat of clear dope over the edges of the tape normally it helps.
You are doing a nice and impressive jobb

Re: Junior 60 build
That’s very interesting Tobe thank you.
I did have a similar thought and put a very light mist coat on first so it would dry - then slowly built the coats up so I didn’t have a ‘flooded’ wet edge against the tape. That along with ironing the tape has definitely helped.
I don’t have any dope - but I think my daughter has a can of hair spray in the cupboard - that might help ?
Will test the idea out before I do it on the Junior

Re: Junior 60 build
Hair spray is normally cellulosa based=dope!
My late dad tought me a dirty trick. Paint in the shower cabin after spraying all surfaces with water, I never heard my mother complain about it.

Re: Junior 60 build
Well I did say I felt knackered the other evening. Turns out I’m positive Covid However making a speedy recovery no doubt due to being double whammied and bazookered.
So a ten day isolation to carry on with model aeroplanes / Can’t be bad methinks
Just made the tail band clip out of an old picture frame wall hook
Made holes through the covering for the band dowels with a hot wire
Made a front peg to locate the tailplane so steaming ahead

Uh oh …. Despite carefully masking off some paint has crept in where it shouldn’t have .

Using a bit of E15 petrol to get the overspray off which is working mostly.
Interestingly only this eve I have realised I cannot smell. The petrol I’m using I just can’t smell at all!
