Finally got around to editing and posting my 8mm home movies from the British Nats in the late 60s. I think these are from 1966,67 and 68 - but certainly between 65 and 68.
I've captioned all the models and people I remember, but it was a long time ago!
Enjoy!

Thanks for that Pete.
What a great bit of history. Very notable is the total lack of elf 'n' safety; models going off in all directions over the crowds. A number of dodgey arrivals by the reed flyers but they bounced
well to survive another day.
Some of the best 30 mins I've spent in lockdown yet.
Cheers,

Re: British Nats in the 60s
Hi Pete
Thanks for going to the trouble of getting the 8mm films digitised and sharing them with us, I've wasted a whole morning looking at it. Well not really wasted, but you know what I mean! Fascinating viewing.
To try to work out which years they were filmed, I've scanned the RCM&E Nats reports from 66, 67 and 68, maybe you could tell from that? The 68 report said it was the first year they'd run a pylon race won by Frank Van den Berg, so possibly 68 and the scale entries look like 67, so I think you've got the years about right.
Cheers
Mike

Some notable models in that footage - Roy Yates "Proctor", Terry Mellaney's "Mew Gull" and Mick Charles' "Sirroco" which won the World F4C champs in 1970 amongst the scale models, Doug Spreng's "Thunderstormer", Denis Hammant's "Spectre" and Chris Olsen's "Uplift" on the aerobatic side.

Brilliant stuff, Pete!
Dennis Thumpston's DH9 is still alive & well and living in Norfolk, displayed at the Marham Aviation Heritage Centre!

Looking at Mike's report, it looks like I made a couple of small errors, but then it was a long time ago!
Thanks for posting those, Mike! And thanks everyone for the positive comments! Glad you enjoyed it!
