Re: New mystery model
The next lockdown restoration is on its way.
I still have the wing of my old ACE GLH II 1/2 A racer from 1980. It was powered by a Cox TeeDee 051 and was a remarkable model at its time.
Around the old wing a new fuselage and empanage is almost completed. It will be powered by a dummy Cox/electric motor. Frank

Re: New mystery model
It has a look of the go-jet without the T-tail.
Great job Frank.

Re: New mystery model
Hi Frank
That's a very nice "Goes Like Hell" mystery model you have just refurbished well done. Is the wing new or did you manage to remove the old finish? Great job either way. Your other mystery models are terrific too (Chico and Electra). It's nice to see you not wasting the lock down free (!) time. I'm afraid I'm down to building chuck gliders!
Keep it up please your output is very encouraging!

Re: New mystery model
Thanks guys, thanks Glyn,
it is still using the old ACE foam wing. I sanded down the old finish as far as possible and covered it with white Orastick on top and regular Oracover checkerboard film on the bottom.
The fusalage and tail feathers are new build-up balsa parts covered in Orastick as well.
The test run of the electric Cox Golden Bee was very encouraging. On a 2S Lipo, a 6x5 prop it´s drawing 12amps and the thrust feels good.
On a 3s Lipo, a 6x4 prop it is consuming almost 14 amps and it feels like a real racer, maybe I will go down to a 6x3 prop.
Because my eyes are getting older, I will test the 2s version first. But our airfields are still closed.
The next build will start now.
Cheers

Re: New mystery model
Started a new build a few days ago.
It will be rudder only, maybe a power pod, maybe a pitch triming device; that will be decided later.
Wingspan is about 2150mm. Cheers

Re: New mystery model
Besides doing some 3D print drawings for dummy engines, I continued on my airplane project.
Just had a big sanding session. Frank
